TalkBanStop Resources for Gambling Businesses

The information available here is designed to help gambling businesses promote TalkBanStop to customers.

TalkBanStop is a partnership between GamCare, Gamban and GAMSTOP, funded and supported by the Gambling Commission, which brings together an important combination of blocking software, self-exclusion and support. When used together we believe these practical tools can be more impactful for people seeking to stop gambling, giving additional layers of protection from harm.

As part of a 12-month pilot, callers to the National Gambling Helpline and clients in GamCare treatment services will be offered free Gamban blocking software licences, which can block access to online gambling sites across up to 15 devices. Callers will also be signposted to register for GAMSTOP – the free national online self-exclusion scheme preventing people from accessing gambling accounts with all licensed gambling sites in the UK.

Customers registering for GAMSTOP will also be able to connect straight through to the National Gambling Helpline over the phone or via web chat for additional support and a free Gamban licence. Likewise, Gamban users will also be signposted to register with GAMSTOP and access support from GamCare.

This collaborative partnership will raise awareness of all three services, and the benefits of combining practical tools with support and treatment in tackling gambling related harms and sustaining recovery. Information on the importance of using more than one practical tool – including self-exclusion, blocking software and bank gambling blocks – will also feature on all sites and be widely available for dissemination through gambling businesses when they interact with at-risk customers or those identified to be experiencing harm.

How can gambling businesses support this partnership?

  • Include information about TalkBanStop in your Safer Gambling communications across websites, apps, emails and social media (and anywhere else you communicate with customers)
  • Explain the benefits of combining tools and support using TalkBanStop, and signposting into the service using sg.talkbanstop.com (this redirect will help us track usage)
  • As a follow up to your conversations with customers, send the customer the TalkBanStop digital flyer which can be downloaded below
  • Ensure that customers who are identified as at-risk or experiencing harm receive tailored communications about the benefits of combining self-exclusion, blocking software and support options, with easy click-through to sg.talkbanstop.com
