GamCare and BGC Collaborate on Safer Gambling Information Code for Online Operators

GamCare are working with members of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) and other support providers to raise standards across the industry to improve the visibility and quality of safer gambling information provided to online customers.
The expected output of the project will be a code of practice/guidance for BGC members on communicating safer gambling information, including signposting to tools, help and support, with an emphasis on ensuring that operators provide customers with a clear and consistent safer gambling online experience. The code will focus on the following stages of the online customer journey: signup, deposit and withdrawal, play or bet, set a control and self-exclude, and will ensure alignment with other industry working groups, draw on existing evidence and research to determine best practice in this area, and will evolve and adapt according to changes in regulation, new research and evaluation.
GamCare’s Development Director, Mike Kenward said, “This project is about increasing visibility of tools and support so that customers can make a more informed decision about how to play safely online or where to go to seek help with their gambling. Working with the BGC in this area ensures that the code will be widely adopted across industry.”
